Attached the Explorist GPS to the bike with a load of elastic bands and took it out to compare the GPS speed to the cycle computer. The GPS read about 3-5mph below the cycle computer, but both that GPS and the TomTom read about that below the Focus speedo too, which is a little odd. So from that I'm assuming it is OK.
Noticed one of the shocks on the back was looking rather dodgy. Once I get back from Berlin I'm going to have to take it in somewhere and that and the exhaust checked out, and perhaps advise on getting a real speedo somehow.
