Car serviced yesterday, went OK. The handbrake was sorted quite easily - the cable hadn't snapped, it had just come off the handle, so it didn't cost much to sort. However, the front tyres were utterly screwed so had new ones fitted today by Etyres.
After the N97 incident, been looking for suitable replacement. Android has been intriguing for a while but took a while to find an affordable device. Found one eventually in the form of a HTC Magic, a slightly older device. So far it seems pretty decent although finding the onscreen keyboard a little difficult. Tried out a few apps and things, seems quite good. Can't believe there's actually an Amiga emulator for Android, that just seems wrong.
