Literature, Society and Creative Writing...

...is what my Mum graduated in today. It was a good day, the ceremony was at 11:00am in Bangor Uni, and was quite long but reasonably tolerable. The harp recital in the middle went on too long though. Oddly enough the whole thing was streamed over the Internet, which allowed my Dad to watch from our house, where he was watching the dog. The ceremony was followed by a small do in the Department of Lifelong Learning where we ate a lot of free sandwiches and crisps, and watched a seagull standing outside the window looking at the food and becoming more and more demented.

After that, there was still some time to go before we put my uncle and aunt on a train, so we went down and looked at the Menai Strait. There's a great long pier that goes right out over it and that was really good. It was quite breezy but the sun was out. There were loads of boats out sailing as it was perfect weather for it. After that we went to the station through awful traffic, before parking up in Lidl so I could take a quick look in a guitar shop. It's one of those places which has great stuff but is ludicrously overpriced. Finally, we came home to see how my Dad had got on with the Idiot Hound. Fortunately he behaved himself all day (the dog), so that was good.

In Extremo
are another interesting German Folk Metal band. Vollmond and This Corrosion are both good. This one from Megaherz has a video that looks like something Voldo from Soul Calibur would do if he had to make a music video. How about some Russion operatic folk metal by Alkonost? Actually really good.
